Dr. Željko Torbica

Dr. Željko (Z.) Torbica brings over 35 years of international experience, having held faculty and leadership roles at several leading U.S. universities. He served as Head of the School of Construction Management Technology at Purdue University (2019–2022); Dean of the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences at West Virginia University Institute of Technology (2012–2019); and Director of the Construction Management Program at Drexel University (2009–2012). In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Torbica has extensive experience as a practitioner and business executive in engineering, construction, real estate development, leadership, and strategic planning.
Throughout his career, Dr. Torbica has received numerous prestigious awards, delivered keynote addresses at international conferences, and published in top-tier professional journals. He has directed projects ranging from $50 million to $550 million, served on the esteemed Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners, and completed executive leadership programs at Columbia University and Harvard University.
Dr. Torbica earned his Ph.D. in Construction Management from the University of Florida. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, a Certified General Contractor in the state of Florida, and holds Project Management Professional (PMP) and Quality Engineer (QE) certifications.
