Dr. Lidija Tomić
Air Traffic Engineer
Dr. Lidija Tomić is an Air Traffic engineer and Advisor for Unmanned Aircraft Systems at the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia. Within the ‘Female Engineer of the Year’ initiative organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the company Siemens Serbia, and the ‘Female Engineer of the Year’ association, Dr. Lidija was nominated as the Engineer of the Year 2024 in Serbia and her work and efforts were recognized as an inspiration for future generations.
At the beginning of this year, she received her doctorate at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, University of Belgrade as the youngest Ph.D. student in the Division of Aircraft. She presented the first doctorate in the Serbian aviation industry and science on drones as a safety threat to civil aviation.
Dr. Lidija gained her first professional experience as an air traffic engineer for the national airline, continuing later with further contributions to the aviation industry through science and education of future aviation personnel. She actively participates in international aviation conferences and is an author and reviewer in leading international journals in the field of aviation.
