Dr. Boris Dumnić

Dr. Boris Dumnić is a full professor at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences. He was born in 1976 and completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, in the Power, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering study program, study module Power Engineering.

As a graduate engineer in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, he has been employed at the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTS) since January 2004 at the Department of Power, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, at the Chair of Power Electronics and Converters. In 2003/2004 he enrolled in postgraduate studies at FTS, majoring in Electrical Engineering, and in Power Electronics, Machines and Drives. In 2007 he defended his master’s thesis entitled “Sensorless Control of Induction Machine in Wind Energy Application “. On April 26, 2013, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Control of Induction Generator with Back-to-Back Converter Connected to Power Grid “.

Currently, he teaches at all levels of academic studies in the study programs Power, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Measurement and Control, Clean Energy Technologies, as well as in the undergraduate and master’s vocational studies in Electrical Engineering: Power Engineering – Renewable Energy Sources and Distributed Resources and Electrical Systems in Vehicles. His courses include Modeling of Electrical Machines and Converters, Power Converters, Wind Power Plants, Renewable Energy Sources and Small Power Plants, Active Distribution Networks, and Switching and Protection Technique.

He is also involved in numerous national scientific and research projects financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, and the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia, as well as in a number of international projects. He has participated in significant number of industry collaborations, preparing various forms of project and technical documentation, consulting services, project management, strategy and study development, supervision of power facility construction and installations, and prototype development and testing.

Dr. Dumnić has published over 150 papers at national and international conferences and more than 15 articles in international journals listed in the SCI index.

He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers – IEEE and served as the president of the IEEE Serbia and Montenegro Section from 2019 to 2023. From 2010 to 2018, he was the director of the Center for Renewable Energy Sources and Power Quality.

From 2015 to 2020, he was the Department for Power, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering director. Since 2018, he has been the head of the Chair of Power Electronics and Converters. He served as vice-dean for development and finance of the Faculty of Technical Sciences from 2020 to 2024.

In 2023, he was elected president of the Republic Commission for Energy Networks and, in 2024, became the dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences.

He speaks English. He is married and has two children.
